Build &  Design

Image result for MSI GL62 7QFThe MSI GL 62QF although is made of an entire plastic casing but is a well build Notebook. The plastic top cover has a matte finish and feels premium. We have noticed negligible screen flexes as the plastic used is of good quality. The hinges quality is good too and we feel it will last longer. The overall design of the Notebook is bit boxy and its dimension are 383 (W) x 260 (D) x 27~29 mm (H). This is not very thin Notebook but does not feel heavy either. The kind of hardware this Notebook contains, we can’t expect it to be on thinner side like ultrabooks. The weight of Notebook is approx. 2.4 kg.

Hardware & Software

This Notebook has been powered by Intel’s 7th Gen processor (current generation) and contains Core i7-7700HQ CPU with HM175 Chipset. The CPU is quad core and this is top of line gaming/performance CPU available for Notebooks at present from Intel. You will find the same CPU even in Notebooks in the price range of above INR 2 Lakhs. The Notebooks contains 2GB DDR5 Nvidia graphic card which low to mid range device and it will serve the purpose for most casual gaming and video editing tasks quite easily. Though, if you want to play high graphic demanding games, we will suggest you look for Notebook with a better graphic processor. Rest of the hardware is quite standard including 1 TB hard drive, 8 GB DDR4 RAM, Optical disk drive, etc.

On the software front, the Notebook comes with DOS operating system pre-install in India and comes with Windows 10 option in other countries. MSI also provide utility software such as Dragon Gaming Center that facilitates various control functionalities, MSI shift technology, etc.

Performance

As discussed above, the Notebook comes with Intel’s 7th Gen Quad core CPU and Nvidia 960 DDR5 GPU, thus, performance wise this Notebook is a beast. You will not find any difficulty in multi-tasking, video editing, casual gaming, web browsing and office applications. This is also good Notebook for Engineering Application such as CAD, CAM.

Verdict

In our view, this Notebook is a great option for someone who is looking Notebook for low to mid range graphic level gaming or video editing, Engineering work. The hardware in the Notebook will not disappoint you. Further, other brands such as ASUS ROG, Lenovo, DELL too offer Notebooks with the same configuration but their prices are much higher than MSI.
